Prison Ministry update

A revival has broken out in the Israeli prisons. In this prison there are 4,000 inmates and over 100 prisoners who have become followers of Yeshua. The prisoner that is leading the revival has called upon us to help him. No one can phone or visit a prisoner without invitation, and I have have been invited to visit. Another Jewish man has accepted Yeshua in prison, and I have been asked to teach him about the Lord's Supper Hebrew style.

The prisoners who are following Yeshua are starving for fellowship. In order for them to talk with us, we need to send them money via the post office to purchase telephone cards, or we could send them telephone cards so they can be supported by believers outside the prison. We are not allowed to phone them. In addition, we provide them with DVDs, Bibles and Christian books.

Most of the prisoners are Ethiopian and Russian Jewish. The Russian speakers in prison have made a connection to a Russian speaking Messianic fellowship in Israel enabling them to listen to the worship service. During the service, someone in the congregation with a mobile phone is connected to a phone in the prison. Currently, 18 Russian prisoners have only one phone between them. During the time of the worship, they take turns and pass the phone one to another. ne person translates to the other prisoners. There are also two prisoners in another room interceding and praying for the service.

The Ethiopian prisoners have expressed interest in hearing a sermon in their language. We are trying to see if we can accommodate their request.

Prisoners who believe in Yeshua that are due to be released on parole cannot go unless they have accommodation. We need to find them work, which is often very difficult. A 40-year-old prisoner by the name of Sergi, who is a follower of Yeshua, is due to be released in November. He is sick with HIV, and he has an infected leg which might have to be amputated. He loves Yeshua with all his heart and fasts and prays regularly.

As you can see, there are a number of needs for the prison ministry; most importantly of course is the need for prayer, but also for telephone cards, Bibles, DVDs, Christian literature, and reintegration into society after their release from prison.

.....then shall thy light rise in obscurity and thy darkness be as the noon day: And the Lord will guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul....... and thou shalt be like a watered garden and a spring of water that faileth not. Isaiah 58:10-11
